John Samuel Lynam in the Great War 1914–1918
John Samuel was born at Marehay in 1897, the son of Walter and Rose Ellen (Gallaghan).
His brother Walter Lynam also served in the war.
He enlisted into the 3rd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (No 116219), a miner aged twenty on 18 April 1918. He was 5ft 3.75in tall. Father was Walter Lynam of Derby Road Marehay.
He transferred into the 2nd Batallion Warwickshire Regiment (No 54340) 8 October 1918 at GHQ Reinforcement Camp, Italy
