James Lynam in the Great War 1914–1918
James Lynam was born in about 1874 he married Alice Jackson in 1902. His parents currently unknown. His army record suggests he was born about 1874 as did the 1911 census.
He enlisted into the 3rd Sherwood Foresters (No 3993) at Derby 17 August 1914. He was C o E, height 5ft 8.75in with grey eyes and brown hair; tattoos on both arms and chest. He was aged 39 years and 245 days, a moulder.
He had previously served with Duke of Corwall Light Infanty (Time expired)
He married Alice Jackson, 21 Gates Street, Derby, on 27 December 1902 at St Giles Church, Normanton, Derby. Two children were recorded – Alice May Winifred (18.6.05) and James (17.11.12).
He served at Home 17.8.14 until 30.11.14 and was then discharged under Kings Regulations 392 as being unfit
